If you haven't been to Whistler - GO ! But go for two weeks - its a 9 hour flight (from LHR) and that and the jetlag can take its toll in the first few days. What's the resort like ? Actually a plesant surpised, purpose built (or purpose extended if you prefer) but done very nicely. It's a real pleasure to wander round the town at night. One the mountain try and avoid the larger restaurents (they're fine - just busy) and go for the samller ones. They often have open air BBQs outside - and you can get a fresh burger and a beer for about ?4.00 !!! (not like the ?18 in Courchevel !) The mountains themselves are superb - easily as good as the Three Valleys - once you suss that the piste map only shows marked trails - the rest of the bowls are also fair game so go off the pistes and join up with other ones. This casual pisting does mean that some of the mogules can be fairly big (- 3 foot drops) but this just adds to the fun. DO read the signs - if they say 'Avalanche debris' they don't mean small chunks of crud that your skis will glide over - they mean ice bolders the size of small cars. It may seem weird - but these are actually very hard to spot - until you crash into one ! (how are the ribs Si ?). Both mountains are great for all capabilities - Blackcomb generally has the more chalenging terrain. Lifts are all good (apart from one that I can't remember the name of - was on it sooooo long I developed Altzheimers !) One important point to watch out for if you're going to buy ski gear. Many ski companies off a 'try before you buy' programme - you pay your $70 get some skis - and can then chop and change your skis on the mountain ! One place they'll send you is the Mountain Advaneture Centre (MAC). Great idea and it means you can easily try 9 pairs of skis in the 3 days allowed. BUT..the downside is that they may not stock the ski you want. Say you wanted, oh I don't know, Head Monster 163cm - you hired a pair from them - you like them - but alas they don't stock them in that length. Which leaves you....$70 shorter and still no skis (unless you're prepared to compromise on length - which, as any lady will tell you - is a bad thing!). Avoid MAC and go round the corner to Affinity (sports ?) - locally owned shop (not Intrawest) great range of skis, great service and great deals ! Would I go again - Yup !

There is a whole gang of us out in Whistler for the season- with Season's on Snow..... the accomodation is ok... the people are great age range in our chalet is 19-37 yrs.... The snow since we have been here has been fantastic we have had a metre in the last week; powder days..... Strongly reccomend going to do fresh tracks breakfast when you know there has been loads of snow... on Whistler. James strongly reccomends the RAC avalanche course he's willing to take commission.We have got five months and one week left and feel extremely lucky to be here. It is the best thing I've ever decided to be out of work.... Come and join us here!!!!!! Well the other day we were in a Gandela... and Seal was in the same one. We had a photo opportunity at the top of Whistler.... Apres Ski is good the best Nachos being at the base of Blackcomb in Merlins six of us shared one portion and we just about finished. Apparently you can have a Nacho challenge if you eat them all yourself they will pay for them... Avoid the bears and the moody waitresses in the GLC above Whistler Gondola. For all round apres-ski I would reccomend the Longhorn Bar!!!! The Waitresses ar always really friendly even if you dont't tip them loads!!!!! Wicked back country opportunities!!!!!!! The beer of the holiday so far is Kokanee.... glacial brewed beer!!!!!

Whistler is without doubt the most complete resort I have ever been too. Great park , Great offpiste , great nitelife and superb food from Zogs dogs to Lobster in the 'Crab Shack ' The mountain has something for everyone from complete beginer to Switch 900 . Most of my friends have learnt to board there through the 3 day Ride Espirit course . They have all been ripping by the end of the week with one riding down the Flute after only two weeks .Wish I hadn't learnt in Europe ! The intermediate and advanced workshops are great , you can choose from a park , pipe or freeride lesson and the instructors grade you before you go , so you will be with riders of your standard .

Top Tip if you need internet access - Esquires coffee shop at the bottom of town gives you 15 mins of internet if you spend over $3 (around the price of a decent coffee) which is a great deal if you drink as much coffee as I do!! Other places generally charge around $2 for 15 mins Guess where I am now!! PS; Powder today was awesome, over my knees! Take the Fitsimmons chair in the mornings to avoid the queues for the gondolas if there's heavy pow!!

Visited Whistler with my family this year and all I can say is that the skiing, resort and the friendliness of the people is fantastic. We will definitely be back. Only issue was the transfer to the resort given the road works to improve the road for the 2010 Winter Olympics - it took 4 hours from Vancouver! Even though this was tough after a 10 hour flight it was worth it!!!!

The "Mighty Whistler" as I like to refer to it is the best. I haven't skied in Europe but have all over western Canada and Whistler is, hands down, the best skiing, the best night life, the best restaurants and the most fun place to ski. I'm particularly fond of the Blackcomb Glacier area and the endless back-country lines all around it if you're willing to hike for them. To me the glacier skiing is what really sets Whistler Blackcomb apart from other resorts. That and the abundance of options for apres-ski. One final thing is cost. Most people think Whistler is very expensive. It can be and has several very expensive options available but it also has some very reasonable ones too, like the Fireside Lodge for accommodation, the Gone Bakery for wholesome, reasonably priced food and $4 bottles of Kootenay Ale at Merlins. I've been there many, many times in all conditions and have always had a good time.

Straight up, I think this place (Whistler) is the awful. Even with one of the worst snow years yet the park is legit right now and it's common to be 'Whistler - Vegas' on snow.

Whistler was completely the best family vacation ski resort ever. There is so much to do and so much entertainment and shopping. We will definitely be going to Whistler every year for our family ski trips. If you are looking for great accommodation do as we did and book with Whistler Resorts Now. They had so many options for accommodation, it truly put the icing on the cake on top of all that Whistler has to offer.
